A NEW carry chair will be installed in ambulances to help patients and staff.

The chair is fitted with tracks to allow easier movement up and down stairs and will virtually eliminate the need to carry patients.

Danny Daniel, health, safety and security manager for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust, said: "This kit is about making it safer and more comfortable for patients and staff.

“We asked staff what they thought was best for their patients as they are the ones who do this work every day."

They are being put on all new ambulances with staff currently being trained on how to use them.
