Parents of a mother still unconscious after a road crash have described their daughter's brave fight.

Chantal Tyrrell, 31, has been unconscious since the collision between her car and an ambulance last September.

Miss Tyrrell, of Dovercourt, has since undergone two life-saving operations.

Chantal was taken by air ambulance to Colchester before being transferred to Romford's Oldchurch Hospital.

Having spent several weeks in intensive care, she is now breathing for herself but cannot communicate with anyone.

"That's the hardest thing of all," said her father Peter Morgan, of Fronks Road, Dovercourt.

"She has been through two life-threatening operations but she is a very strong girl and has survived.

"We're told that it can take a long time, but the truth of it is they just don't know when she will wake up."

Police have said there would be no charges brought against anyone involved in the crash after a four-month investigation.

However, Mr Morgan and his wife Janet believe the matter is not closed and are taking legal advice.
