New affordable homes have been named after a popular councillor.
Hastoe Housing Association unveiled the ten flats and houses in Porter Place, Tollesbury, yesterday.
It has worked with the parish council since 2009 to find a suitable site and the late Russell Porter, district councillor for the Tollesbury ward, played a big part in the negotiations and planning discussions.
Mr Porter, of Tolleshunt Knights, died in 2012 from a cardiac arrest, just hours after leaving a council meeting.
His widow Stanny Porter and sons David and Michael attended the unveiling ceremony, along with district council chairman Frank Delderfield, MP Priti Patel and Tollesbury district councillor Robert Long.
A tree was also planted in Mr Porter’s memory.
