The lifeblood of Clacton's small businesses is being drained by superstore monopolies and bad planning decisions.
That is the verdict of Anita and Julian Gallehawk, who have been the proprietors of the Bakehouse, in West Avenue, for the past three years.
In that time, they say they have seen their own business decline, as well as several others in the area.
Nigel Brown, Tendring Council's communications manager, said great efforts had been made to involve residents, businesses and other interested groups in the Clacton town centre scheme.
