A long-serving headteacher has sprung a Shanghai surprise on his school by quitting to move to China.
Terry Creissen is leaving Colne Community School, Brightlingsea, after 17 years to take up a post in the Far East.
He takes over as principal at the British International School in Shanghai in April.
Mr Creissen, 48, has been headteacher at the school for 13 years. He said taking over the top job there was the highlight of his career.
