Essex: Inspectors visit special measures hospital
8:45am Wednesday 7th May 2014 in News
COLCHESTER General Hospital is being inspected by the Care Quality Commission this week.
The NHS Foundation Trust will be one of the first to be graded as outstanding, good, requiring improvement, inadequate, as part of the health watchdog’s new system.
A team of inspectors, which is bigger than ever before, is expected to look at eight areas including A&E, surgery and end of life care.
They will publish their findings later this year.
The CQC inspection the trust last year and criticised waiting times for treatment for urology and lower gastrointestinal cancers.
It triggered an NHS England review and the trust remains in special measures.
