THIS year’s Colchester Half Marathon raised a record £33,500 for St Helena Hospice.

About 2,000 runners took part in the annual race, organised by Colchester Colne Round Table.

Race director Matt Eaton said: “We have smashed all records and proudly give the proceeds to such a wonderful charity. We’ve never written a cheque this big.”
