AN off-duty healthcare assistant who rushed to the aid of a woman after she was hit by a car has been recognised with an award.
Arliss Porter, 39, helped Edna Wilson after witnessing the accident in Tower Road, Wivenhoe.
Arliss, who lives nearby, called an ambulance, contacted her family and stayed with her as she was taken to Colchester General Hospital.
He visited her while she spent two weeks recovering at the hospital.
Arliss was nominated by Edna’s niece, Janet Pocklington, for the hospital’s an At Our Best awards for best individual – and won.
Edna, 84, said: “I can’t give him enough credit. He was wonderful."
