PARENTS have called for safety improvements outside a school after two boys were hit by a car on a zebra crossing.
The brothers, aged 11 and six, were were injured outside Myland Primary School, Colchester, on Tuesday, at 3.25pm.
Sarah Sherratt, of Mile End Road, said a traffic island in Mill Road was replaced with a zebra crossing when homes were built on the former Tubswick site.
She said: “It was more prominent because it was in the middle of the road. Now it is just a big open space.”
Mrs Sherratt said Tuesday’s incident had made the schoolchildren more aware of the importance of road safety.
