Parents have been reassured that a suspected attempt to abduct a child from a Braintree school did not take place.
Letters had been sent to parents advising them to be vigilant after a man in a red van, claiming to be a taxi driver, attempted to snatch a child at a local primary school.
John Ray Junior School, in Notley Road, stressed it was "a misunderstanding" and it was a bona fide taxi driver who asked the wrong child if she needed a lift home last Wednesday afternoon.
