The police officer leading the investigation into Anneli's murder has appealed for anyone who saw her before her death to come forward.

Det Chief Supt Stewart Gull, who is leading the investigation, said: "A passing motorist believes he saw the body in situ at about 10.30am on Thursday, December 7. However, he thought it was an abandoned mannequin and did not report it to police."

A week later, on Sunday, December 10, at 3.20pm, her naked body was spotted by a passing motorist in woodland near Nacton.

Mr Gull said: "We have appealed to anyone who may have seen her shortly before her death to come forward."

The area where the body was found was cordoned off while the area was searched, and the inquiry got under way.

Her body was removed from the site on Monday and was taken to Ipswich Hospital, where a post-mortem examination was carried out.

Mr Gull said the results showed she had been strangled.

He said at this stage it was not known if Anneli was sexually assaulted, so further tests were being carried out.

Mr Gull said: "It is essential we trace anyone who may have seen Anneli in the week between Sunday, December 3, and Sunday, December 10.

"Specifically, we want to hear from anyone who saw her between Sunday, December 3 and Thursday, December 7.

"I would also ask people, particularly clients, to look at Anneli's photograph. If you saw her recently, please give us a call. This extra information could be crucial to our investigation."
