Detectives were today hunting a gang of youths who carried out a motiveless attack on a man which left him with a fractured skull.
The 32-year-old man from Witham was attacked at about 1.30am on Saturday while he was walking his dog in Dorothy Sayers Drive.
Police say he walked past a group of youths, which included at least one female, and was picked on outside the newsagents shop.
He suffered a fractured ankle, skull and jaw and needed treatment at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford.
