Colchester town centre bosses were today threatening legal action over the High Street Christmas lights fiasco.
The situation hit rock bottom after the town centre partnership pulled the plug on this year's display.
The town partnership could take legal action against the contractors who put up the illuminations in a bid to get their cash back.
No-one from Kent-based contractors Cascade Illuminations was available for comment.
