A 11-year-old boy travelling with his deaf father and brother has been praised for his assistance to coastguards after their sailing yacht ran aground.
The 24ft yacht Miss Amanda ran aground on Maplin Spit, 16 miles off Walton pier, at 8.50pm on Saturday.
Walton RNLI and a rescue helicopter were called to the yacht, after the engine had broken down, after a mayday call from the boy.
