PETER Andre-mania rolled into the tiny village of Tollesbury as fans tried to catch a glimpse of the star during filming for a TV show.

The Aussie star was shooting an episode of ITV show 60 Minute Makeover in Thurstable Road today.

Kitted out in blue overalls, Andrea and a crew of carpenters, plasterers and decorators transformed an unsuspecting resident’s house.

It is understood he was taken out for the day after he was nominated for the makeover by his wife.

About 50 fans waited outside for Andre to sign autographs and have their pictures taken with him.

Heidi Callow, 17, Chynna Phillips, 17, Natasha Rolf, 20, Lara Davison, 20 and Nichola Hodgetts, 34, waited for hours.

Nichola, of Tollesbury Road, Tolleshunt D’arcy, had a copy of the star’s biography for him to sign.

She said: “He waved to us and said: ‘Hello’. He looks really fit in his dungarees.

“I have been a fan since I was 14, I had a poster of him up in my bedroom wall.”

Neighbour Mandy Czuba, 58, said she received a letter through the post on Thursday explaining there would be some disruption between 7am and 7pm, and asking for neighbours to keep the makeover a secret.

She said: “I have been looking out my window to try and get a glimpse of Peter Andre. It’s exciting.”

The TV crew team took over a large section of the street with a trailer and vans.

It is the second time Tollesbury, which has a population of about 2,000, has had a brush with fame in recent years.

Nearby marshland was the scene for the opening of BBC drama Great Expections starring Ray Winstone in 2011.
