A BRAVE teenager is celebrating after experts told him he has beaten his brain tumour.

Will Hunt, 18, appears to have beaten cancer almost a year to the day as he had his first symptoms.

Last week the teenager underwent a three-hour operation to remove what was left of his brain tumour.

Doctors told Will, of Creffield Road, Colchester, the mass is no longer cancerous.

He has a meeting with his oncologist next week to confirm the results.

He has paid tribute to all those who had helped him over the past year.

Will said: “I know I’m the one who has been through the treatment but I always say “we” did it.

“I have had my mum and dad looking after me all year at my beck and call and then I have had my friends constantly cheering me up, all the people fundraising and those sending me messages.

“We even had Gazette readers who had seen the articles sponsoring the fundraising. It’s just amazing.

“All these people have beaten it with me. I’m very grateful.”

Will has not been alone on his journey.

Proud parents Kay and Peter have been with him all the way as have a band of trusty fundraising friends.

Their help has not only given Will the strength to fight the disease but raise more than £13,000 for charity CLIC Sargent, which helped the family through Will’s treatment.

He has also had the immense support of fellow Colchester teenager and cancer fighter Tom Bowdidge - who has raised £90,000 for charity.

The pair were treated together at University College London.

Will said: “Tom has really helped me throughout this.

“Now we are turning our attention to help Tom the rest of the way.”

Will wants to do his own fundraising in the future to say thank you to those who have helped him.

For now he is turning his attention to recovering fully from his operation and cancer.

He said: “I’m just looking forward to relaxing and having a holiday.”
