AN area of grassland was cordoned off after an injured man told paramedics he had been robbed.
Police were called to St Botolph's Circus shortly before noon on Saturday by the ambulance service.
A police spokesman said: "Officers arrived at the scene to find a 60-year-old man with a head injury.
He stated he had been a victim of a robbery."
Officers cordoned off the scene to search for evidence.
Paramedics took the man to Colchester General Hospital for treatment.
