The author of a book of spoof letters visited the seaside to see one of his recipients - the Mayor of Frinton and Walton.
Duncan McNair wrote The Morello Letters - Pen Pal to the Stars - a collection of genuine correspondence with the great and good.
The letters are written by a fictional character, R M Morello, a 45-year-old confused Italian immigrant.
They include a letter to deputy PM John Prescott asking if he minds if they name a bull terrier after him, and to Cliff Richard asking if they can walk their emus and llamas across his land.
Mr Morello also wrote to the the mayor of Frinton, Jack Robertson, asking him if there was anywhere in Frinton he could buy a good toaster.
