ORGANISERS behind Colchester Carnival have thanked all the partners who are supporting this year’s event.

Partners are involved in a number of ways, from funding to offering goods or services which are essential to the preparation or running of the carnival on July 20.

A key player is B&E Hamblion Transport based at the Hythe, Colchester, which is providing nine vehicles to be used as floats in the procession.

Director Paul Hamblion said it wanted to be involved as it is a local, family business.
“We have always been involved in the carnival and we like to think we put something back into the community,” he added.

The company provides its drivers for free and fuel.

Dan Woodruff, procession manager, said its involvement made a significant difference to the event.

“We wouldn’t be able to put in place all the floats that we do without Hamblion’s generosity. It is extremely valuable to the entrants and also gives us the backing of experts driving the lorries which makes the whole event more secure.

“It is a great example of community spirit of local companies that make that happen.”

About 55 floats are expected to take part in the 3pm procession and a total of 1,500 people.

Mr Woodruff added: “The whole thing is run on a shoestring. Any money we can save on expertise and time means we can put more in the community.”

Other event partners include: The Gazette, McDonald’s, Kiddi Caru Nursery  and Stand Tall.

The organisers Colchester Round Table and Colchester Ladies Circle also want to say a huge thank you to carnival sponsor, Weston Homes.

If any businesses want to help in some way there is advertising space available on the carnival’s website.

Money raised from the advertising goes directly to supporting the cost of putting on the event.
