Colchester United boss Geraint Williams has officially opened a sports facility that will benefit a whole community.
The high-flying U's manager cut the ribbon for the new all-weather pitch at Chase Lane Primary School, Dovercourt.
The project has cost £130,000 and taken three years of planning and construction.
Mr Williams joined former England international Paul Goddard and a host of dignitaries for the ceremony.
