Cutting a casualty out of a smashed-up car was one of the tools used to get the drink-drive message across to motorists.

Essex's Christmas Drink-Drive Campaign was launched yesterday, in a bid to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on the county's roads because of drink-related incidents.

Do not drink if you are going to drive was the clear message put across.

Fire and ambulance crews, along with police officers, stunted up an accident scene and showed onlookers how injured passengers are cut out of a crashed vehicle.
