The Evening Gazette is on a mission.
It wants to give a very special Christmas present to women in north Essex - and this present could be a life-saver.
The Gazette is getting behind Colchester General Hospital's maternity unit and the hospital's League of Friends to raise a minimum of £25,000 to buy an ultra-sound scanner for the unit.
The Gazette wants to raise as much as possible by Christmas Day and today launches its commitment to the North East Essex Women's Scanner Appeal.
