Green-thinking residents have been praised for their efforts to combat global warming.
The Tendring district might have failed to hit its recycling target this year but this has not stopped one part of the district trying to save the planet.
A combination of dedicated staff and conscientious residents has resulted in the tip in Lawford recycling up to 70 per cent of its rubbish each month. Jake Batley, 35, site foreman at the centre, was full of praise.
He said: "I have worked at tips all over Essex and I can honestly say the people who bring their rubbish here really care about how it is disposed of and are extremely courteous."
