THE ambulance service has been fined £2million for failing to get to the most urgent emergencies in time.
The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust was handed the fine following its poor performance last year.
Paramedics are supposed to get to 75 per cent of life-threatening incidents within eight minutes and to the hospital within 19 minutes in 95 per cent of cases.
The trust repeatedly failed to hit either target.
Interim chief executive Andrew Morgan is now trying to turn around performance with an 89 point plan and has apologised for the failings and delays.
