PLANS to build 48 homes on the former Colchester Garrison site have been approved.
Developer Taylor Wimpey will begin work on the 5,000sq metres site as soon as possible.
The scheme is a mix of two, three and four bed houses, and is located off Berechurch Hall Road. It will also include three affordable homes while some will also be set aside for the Government’s Help to Buy scheme.
Members of Colchester Council planning committee approved the scheme by seven votes to three.
The scheme will go ahead as long as a contribution of £37,950 is made to create public open spaces in the area.
