A TEENAGER has been charged with the murder of Jay Whiston.

Jay, 17, of Aster Close, Clacton, was stabbed to death at a house party in Marlowe Way, Colchester on September 8 shortly after 10pm.

A 17-year-old from Colchester appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court earlier today.

He has been remanded in custody until Friday when he will appear at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Several teenagers from Colchester were originally arrested on suspicion of murder, during the hours and days following the stabbing, and another four were arrested in November on suspicion of assisting an offender after a raid at a home in the town.

Three suspects, two aged 19 and one 18-year-old, all from Colchester, remain on police bail on suspicion of murder until July 25 while investigations continue.

Three others, a 51-year-old man, a 42-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, have also been re-bailed until July 25 on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Police have also arrested four people on suspicion of witness intimidation.

These include two 18-year-old men from Colchester and a 16-year-old girl and 18-year-old woman both from Clacton.

They have been bailed until Thursday, June 13, having been arrested earlier this month.
