A popular school has been rated as good by Ofsted inspectors.
Stanway School, which has 1,120 pupils, was assessed to be good across the four judging criteria - achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour and safety of pupils and leadership and management.
Lead inspector James McAtear said students achieve well in English in comparison to schools nationally and overall and do particularly well in Maths.
Teaching was considered to be consistently strong and the behaviour of the students was said to be good.
Systems for monitoring and improving learning were said to be highly effective and leaders, managers and governors were praised for the work they did to ensure the progress of students - including those who had fallen behind and were given help to get back on track.
However, the inspectors said the school could not be rated as outstanding because students do not achieve as highly in science as they do in other subjects.
