A WOMAN was attacked at Colchester Town train station.
 

Police are appealing for information following the attack at 7.45pm yesterday.

Officers sealed off the area following the brutal attack at the entrance of station, commonly known as St Botolph’s.
 

Det Sgt Jon Pine, from British Transport Police, said: “An altercation is believed to have taken place between a man and woman outside the station entrance.
 

“During which, the man is believed to have assaulted the victim, a 34-year-old woman from Colchester.
 

“As a result of the attack, she was taken to Broomfield Hospital where she was treated for her injuries sustained in the assault, including cuts to her mouth, swelling to her head, cheekbones and bruising to her arms.
 

“She was discharged from hospital on Tuesday morning.”
 

A 22-year-old man from Colchester was arrested by officers on suspicion of assault following the incident and remains in custody.
 

Officers are viewing CCTV and asking for anyone with information to come forward.
 

Several people already have but officers want to find out exactly what happened during the assault and just prior to it.
