A COUNCIL scheme to help first-time buyers on the property ladder has been given go-ahead.
Up to £4 million is on offer to Colchester residents help guarantee part of their mortgage after the initiative got the green light at an Essex County Council cabinet meeting today
County Hall is the driving force behind the scheme, first unveiled in February, and Colchester Council has said it also wants to take part.
The county council has pledged £7 million to the project, which will see £2 million in its own scheme and £1 million match-funded with five district councils who have expressed interest.
