Blackout in town centre

COLCHESTER town centre was hit by a power blackout on Saturday.

Shops and restaurants had to fend for themselves after an underground cable fault at just before midday.

UK Power Networks was estimating to get the electricity back on by 2pm.

Engineers managed to fix the fault by 12.45pm and power was restored.
