In today's Gazette: A mum has thanked hospital staff who saved her life twice after she suffered pregnancy complications.

Danielle Murphy, 29, was 16 weeks pregnant when she needed two life-saving operations at Colchester General Hospital. She lost her unborn child but said: "If it wasn't for me being treated at that hospital, I don't think I would be here."

* Shotgun killer Darren Jewell has challenged his conviction at the Court of Appeal.

Jewell, 37, of John Street, Brightlingsea, gunned down his workmate, roofer Anthony Prickett in St Osyth in 2011. Jewell had denied murder but was convicted and jailed for life.
