Woman hit in face with champagne bottle

POLICE have renewed an appeal for information after a champagne bottle struck a woman in the face.

Police were called to Roberts Nightclub, off Vineyard Street, at about 1.30am on Saturday, December 22.

Officers initially appealed for information on Christmas Eve but have had no witnesses come forward.

The 31-year-old woman was taken to hospital where she had stitches to a wound above her left eye.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact PC Richard English at Colchester police station on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I thought the Gazette had recently invented the verb "to glass" to describe such incidents? What is the difference between "to glass" and merely to strike somebody with bottle?
