In today's Gazette: The family of a teenager murdered in Colchester have pleaded for the public's help in bringing his killer to justice.

Jay Whiston's sister Holly Fairburn, 25, and his mother Caroline Shearer made the public appeal for information on the day after what would have been Jay's 18th birthday.

* Colchester's famous son Dermot O'Leary has been nominated for a National Television Award.

The former Colchester Sixth Form College and St St Benedict's College student is up for the entertainment presenter award.

* A woman whose mother died in la care home claimed she alerted the watchdog whose concerns saw it shut down.

Whistleblower Carole Dennis, of Colchester, said she raised serious concerns over the welfare of her mum with the owners of Ashcroft Care Home in Eight Ash Green.

* Residents in Colchester who do not recycle properly could be fined up to £1,000. Councillor Martin Hunt said the action was a last resort but one which could be used for serial offenders.
