HISTORIANS have accused Colchester Council of selling off the family silver as the building housing the museum resource centre is set to be sold off.
The council has confirmed it is to put the centre in Ryegate Road on the market.
It claims the centre, next to Castle Park, is no longer fit for purpose and says it cannot afford the cost of bringing it to standard.
But history lovers want assurances staff and the artefacts at the centre will be given a good new home.
