HIGHWAYS bosses are still planning on ripping out a wicker fence built by school children to stop parents parking on grass verges.
The work, which was meant to be carried out on Tuesday, December 11, had been delayed and prompted hope that county hall was considering a u-turn.
But an Essex County Council spokesman confirmed the work, outside Friars Grove Primary School, in Upland Drive, is still due to go ahead despite it not being on the works programme for this week.
Essex County Council made the decision without consulting either the school or Growing In St John’s, an environmental group which helped children.
The work is to be carried out because it is “causing an obstruction to the highway”.
