High end health club set for Colchester 'leisure park'

Anne Turrell and Annie Feltham hope to attract leisure companies to land in north Colchester
A HEALTH club could be in line to be part of a proposed leisure park in north Colchester.
David Lloyd fitness group has signalled a strong interest in building a health club on land near the Weston Homes Community Stadium at Cuckoo Farm.
If building goes ahead, it would mean the area would be home to football, rugby, archery and racquet sports.
The health club specialist was among a number of companies to respond to Colchester Council’s vision statement for the 40-acre site north Colchester, published in August.
Annie Feltham, councillor responsible for leisure, said creating a park could help to fund leisure facilities around the borough because it would generate a regular income in land rent.
“We have got facilities that we are running but the idea is to increase the amount of facilities but also get an income from them,” Mrs Feltham said.
