Night of action marks Colchester's Christmas crime crackdown

A NIGHT of action marked the start of a Christmas crime crackdown in Colchester.

Following on from the successful days of action in the town several organisations have joined forces to tackle problems in the town centre at night.

Police put on extra patrols and brought in support from around the county with officers looking to enforce the One Punch campaign where any violence is responded to with an arrest.

Tim Young, the cabinet member for community safety and the founder of the days of action, said: “By working in partnership with other agencies we are able to effectively target a range of issues that affect the town centre at night.”

Insp Jim White added: “People usually have a great night out when they come in to Colchester. My police officers and the council want to keep it that way.

“Don't drink too much, stay in control."

Surely, every night should be 'A night of action'?

I was involved in an incident where the "One Punch" campaign and policy applied ........... not used as the CPS said they had never heard of it, so much for partnerships in crime and multi-agency approach, it don;t work!

Well at least we know who is dealing with crime in their area......Colchester
, not Harwich & Manningtree ....Standard operating procedure.
"One punch"....Hope there was more than one pinch on the first day of the month.
