Essex Police have recorded a major drop in the number of crimes.
A total of 5,609 fewer incidents were reported in a five-month period this year than the previous year, figures show.
The 8.1 per cent reduction puts the force among the safest counties in the country as detection rates are also shown to be continuing to rise.
