I have just got home after coming through this delay and I wonder why the Gazette have put a random picture of a fire engine taken on a sunny when the accident happened in the dark and rain?

Because, fnagwaa, they use this very same picture each and every time they refer to the fire services in an article. I've lost the will to live, I really have!

They provided the picture so that we know what a fire engine actually looks like.

Like the photo of the police car they alway use for the 'scene of an accident'.

Using stock pictures like this make me doubt just how up to date some of the news actually is!

For a 'Newspaper' this is not good enough. Print a true picture, or no picture at all.

Come now Yellow Peril. We must give credit where credit is due………..

They did actually use a picture of a different fire engine in a report about an accident which occurred at 7:00 pm. .

What a shame however that no-one thought how stupid it looked to show a fire engine in bright sunshine in the middle of a field when reporting an accident that must have occurred more than two hours after sunset in London Road!

Obviously, the queues were so long that the men in the fire engine had been sitting there since the summer!

Traffic queues... that is news? Colchester is virtually gridlocked from 7.30 a.m. until 7 p.m. each and every weekday. Maybe the picture of a stationery shiney red fire engine is a little questionable at this time of year.

There will continue to be accidents on the A12 until the speed limit is reduced! One can get far more vehicles per mile - traveling at say 55mph and much more safely - than you can when all are speeding at 80mph+ - it's known as "the box effect".

I keep thinking of Viz whenever the Gazette use a stock photo to portray an incident when they don't have a picture of the actual event.

"A fire engine, like one that probably attended the incident".
