REPAIRS to a pontoon smashed by a ship lost in the fog will cost more than £60,00 to repair.
About 40 metres of pontoon and supporting piles need to be replaced after the crash, plus other equipment, following the crash in Brightlingsea Harbour yesterday.
Bernie Hetherington, chief executive of the Brightlingsea Harbour Commission, said: "Our initial estimate to replace the equipment, such as the pontoons and piles, is in the region of £60,000."
