A mother has been ordered to keep her dog muzzled and on a lead while in public after it attacked another dog and caused an injury to its owner.

Gillian Morris, of Hadrians Way, Heybridge, admitted being the owner of a dangerously out of control dog that injured Adam Pipe at Oak Tree Meadow, in Heybridge, on July 4.

Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court heard that Morris, 48, had been inside the fenced off play area, where dogs are not allowed, with her Pointer cross Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Jack, and two friends and their baby at about 8pm.

Mr Pipe was walking his Labrador, Archie, when Jack came running out of the play area towards them.

Denise Holland, prosecuting, said Mr Pipe had described the onrushing dog as demonstrating “extremely aggressive behaviour” before it attacked Archie, leaving him with puncture wounds to his side and shoulder.

Magistrates fined the married mother-of-one £400 and ordered that Jack was muzzled and kept on a lead when in public.
