FIVE community groups are set to benefit from a share of £40,000.
Bosses behind the Colchester Borough Homes Community Fund held a public vote in Colchester Library to decide the final winners after a series of roadshow events across the town.
The winners are Berechurch Youth Club, Community Youth Project, Rowhedge Youth Club, Colchester Credit Union, and Conservation Volunteers.
The aim of the fund is to "build stronger communities" across the borough and groups are able to apply for a share of the money throughout the year.
Karen Williams, head of housing at Colchester Borough Homes, said: "I’m absolutely delighted that we have been able to help such a diverse mix of organisations who applied for funding.
"The Community Fund supports the values of Colchester Borough Homes, in particular showing our commitment to connecting communities around the borough.
"It really is a great way to get local communities out together and working for one another."
