A RESCUE puppy was stolen during a burglary.
Staff at Ardleigh business Absolute Asbestos Solutions Ltd have taken to social media to try to find seven-month-old Jäger, who was the company’s office dog.
Police believe the Dogue de Bordeaux and Ridgeback cross was taken from a residential property on the business site, in Fox Street.
The business’ owners rescued Jäger about a month ago, and she now lives on the site.
Ritchie Hicks, who works for the company, said: “It is devastating.
“We’ve got no idea where she has gone.”
The break-in happened overnight between Sunday and yesterday.
Thieves smashed a glass panel in the door and unlocked it while the owner was out.
They also took several items of clothing.
Although they cannot be sure Jäger was stolen and did not just run out through a door left open by the burglars, the site is surrounded by a 6ft fence which they do not believe she would have been able to climb.
Staff have called the vets, councils and the police but no-one has seen Jäger.
Essex Police is investigating the break-in, and a forensic team were due to go to the property yesterday.
A spokesman said: “Thieves smashed their way into the home and removed a ridgeback cross breed dog.”
Mr Hicks said: “She’s very playful. She is very well mannered, well behaved and quite timid.”
Jäger is tanned-coloured and has a lump the size of a pound coin on her hind-left leg.
Anyone with any information about Jäger should contact Essex Police on 101.
