COLCHESTER Phoenix Natalie Jones sent a strong message out to her rivals by scooping gold in a new world record time at the Paralympic World Cup.

The 23-year-old - who is planning for her third Paralympics in Beijing this year - ensured she will step on the blocks in China as the firm favourite after a sensational 3.15.72 minute victory in Manchester.

Jones left the field - which included rising British stars Nyree Lewis and Elizabeth Johnson - fighting through her waves to take top spot on the podium in the SM6 200m individual medley.

But the reigning Paralympic champion has vowed to retain her ruthless streak in the Far East in September by snatching yet another gold medal.

"The target out in Beijing is to better the world record again - simple as that," said Jones.
