WHAT have Benedict Cumberbatch and Anthony Roberts got in common? Precious little you might be thinking. But think again! The answer is we both share the honour of performing Shakespeare live in Colchester.

One in a live broadcast from the The National Theatre to be screened live in Firstsite cinema and the other in the Upper Bowls Park of the Castle Park with the Priory Players.

The reason I bring this to your attention is that our live screening of Benedict Cumberbatch's Hamlet – Thursday, October 15 – has proved so popular that there is now two repeat encore screenings for those who miss it first time round on Thursday, November 12, and Saturday, November 14.

I have made it clear to Mr Cumberbatch, in no uncertain terms, that should he fall foul of any ill health I ammore than willing to rescue the situation by stepping gallantly into the role at short notice.

I always enjoy learning Shakespearean verse and the four hours of unedited Hamlet can’t be that much of a challenge, can it?

On a completely different note our wonderful crazy golf installation – The First Nine Holes of Richard DeDomenici came to an end on 20 September.

We have no storage space for this magnificent art installation and we are looking for a new owner who might nurture and enjoy this beautiful creature. One careful owner. Comes complete with golf balls.
