Job Title: Credit Controller (Post No. 1.159)

Responsible to: Property Manager


Main Objectives:

To manage and monitor aged debt ensuring prompt and efficient collections from Newsagent accounts.

Reduce the Company’s exposure to bad debt by means of effective, pro-active communication with the credit team, external and internal departments.

Ensuring compliance with current legislation.

To ensure that all accounts are chased for payment in a timely and courteous manner.

To ensure regular telephone chasing follow up against promised payments that fail to materialise.

To ensure that records of all customer debt recovery telephone calls are recorded within the customer history.

To ensure that all customer queries are promptly recorded and raised/advised to the appropriate area within the Advertising Department.

To ensure that proper credit sanctions are applied to any delinquent account in accordance with company credit policy.

To ensure that the Credit Manager is aware of any account that requires third party debt recovery at the earliest opportunity.

To liaise in a professional and courteous manner with all sales staff regarding customer queries/credit status.

To ensure that any cash, or adjustments, applied to the account have been correctly allocated.

To ensure that the sales person is aware at the earliest opportunity of any third party debt recovery action which may be applied against any account under their control.

To ensure that all customer application for credit account forms are subject to the appropriate credit checking and that the account is opened expediently.

To assist with credit vetting and clearance of advertisement at the relevant deadlines as and when required.

To ensure that the department runs smoothly at all times and that any problems are dealt with in a prompt and professional manner.

To perform any other duties relevant to the Company’s credit control policies as and when requested by the Credit Manager or Credit Control Supervisor.

To accept responsibility for the development of a territory/category and the implementation of new ideas to generate revenue.

To cover the territory/category in an effective and organised manner.

To increase advertisement sales to existing and new customers, offering the complete product portfolio.

To maximise customer contact to maintain and develop existing and new business.

To sell the benefits of planned advertising.

To participate in the planning and selling of advertisement features.

To adhere to the Company discount structure when negotiating with customers.

To assist customers by advising on copy writing, copy presentation, advertisement design and campaign planning. All advertisements will be of the highest standard.

To collect and process all advertisement copy adhering to the company deadlines.

To answer customer queries courteously and promptly adhering to the time scales laid down by the company.

To continuously update knowledge of marketing statistics, changes, market share and competitors.

To observe lines of communication within the department structure.

To inform other departments or sections of changes which may have an impact on them.

To ensure appropriate arrangements are made for territory/category cover during any periods of absence.

To assist on other territories/categories as required.
