Sunday Wasiu will not be offered a new deal by Colchester United.
The powerful Nigerian striker’s existing contract is due to expire this summer.
And U’s boss Paul Lambert has told Wasiu that there will be no fresh deal on the table.
Lambert has made no secret of the fact that he is keen to make changes to his squad for next season.
And with at least one new striker likely to arrive once the transfer window reopens in June, Wasiu’s days at Colchester appear to be numbered.
Wasiu told the Gazette: “I had a chat with the manager.
“He said that he wouldn’t be able to offer me another contract.
“I could still be at Colchester next season but there won’t be a contract.
“If another offer came in, I would hope to be playing and scoring for them.
“As a striker, you have to be playing regular football and scoring goals.”
