A SPORTS pitch in Tiptree can be covered with an all-weather shelter.
Councillors have approved plans for the steel-framed fabric-covered building over the multi-use games area (MUGA) at Warriors Rest sports site in Tiptree.
The Jobserve Sports and Social Club, a registered charity, applied for the cover to allow the pitch to be used throughout the year.
Members of Colchester Council’s planning committee unanimously approved the plans during a meeting last night at the Town Hall.
Councillor Jon Manning, who proposed the plans be approved, told the meeting: "As a local sports coach, having pulled my hair out trying to find anywhere for kids to do sport locally, anything we can do to enable more people to follow a healthy lifestyle we have to support."
