A PRIMARY school has withdrawn its application for a sports facility after residents raised concerns about noise.
Kelvedon St Mary’s Academy School, in Docwra Road, Kelvedon wanted to build a multi-use sports area, surrounded by a 10ft-high fence, on its playing field. However the school has withdrawn the application after Braintree Council, which received 73 objections from residents, warned it was likely to be refused.
Pam Sharp, environmental health officer at the council, said: “In view of the very close vicinity to nearby residential gardens, this development has the potential to cause noise disturbance.”
The playground would not have been used after 5pm on school days. It has not decided if it will resubmit the proposals.
