THREE brothers who tasted the big time 14 years ago could be about to taste success again...thanks to X Factor.

Next of Kin - Nathan, Mark and Kieran Bass - performed in the boot camp round of the ITV talent show on Monday.

The trio, who have been performing together for 15 years, will soon find out if they’ve reached the judge’s houses stage.

They are waiting to learn if they have impressed Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, Gary Barlow and Sharon Osbourne.

Nathan said: “It’s exciting for us because we didn’t know we’d be liked so much by the judges.

“They love the whole back story of us, that we’ve been through the mill.

“The first audition in the room, I didn’t think it would have gone that well.

“It was mindblowing, the appreciation was immense.”

Nathan, 32, of Dorothy Sayers Drive, Witham, and Kieran, 28, and Mark, 29, who live with their parents David and Diane on East Hill, Colchester formed a band in 1998.

The acoustic rock/pop trio were previously signed to former Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller's record label.

They were dubbed the UK’s Hanson and supported Boyzone on their UK tour in 1999.

Their most successful single, 24 Hours from You, peaked at number 13 in the UK Singles Chart in February 1999.

After the relationship with their next label went sour, the brothers endured more than a decade of false promises and dashed dreams.

Nathan said: “It’s been 13 years of trying to get back into the industry.

“In January my friend said: ‘Why don’t you try and go onto the X Factor?’

“When you’re a band it’s difficult because you don’t see yourselves on those kind of shows.

“They’re for soloists and they’re a bit karaoke so we never really saw ourselves on there, but they said this year they were looking for really good groups with history and something behind them so we went for it.”

Television crews are due to come to Witham or Colchester on Friday for more filming.

The new series of X Factor is due to start later this month.
